Born in 1966 in İzmir, Karşıyaka, Erkam Tufan Aytav got his B.A. degree on Tourism Management at İstanbul Technical University.

He worked as a journalist for various papers. From 1998 to 2008 Aytav was the Secreteray General of Dialogue Eurasia Platform and the Editor in Chief of DA magazine.
He is currently the Secretary-General for Medialog Platform under the Jorunalists and Writers Foundation. Aytav also produces radio shows and tv programs as well as writes weekly for haber7.com.

Erkam Tufan Aytav is also the Turkey Representative for Asia Journalists Organization and is a member of the Media Ethical Council. Aytav is married and father od three children. His recently published book is “Being the Other in Turkey”.
